Destination Learning Teams up with Nottingham University's Business School

The students arrived on a Sunday afternoon in March and enjoyed a 2 hour context setting guided walking tour of the city that illuminated and brought into focus all the recent tourism development in the city. The students experienced an evening of live music at the world famous and iconic Cavern Club.

The Jury's Inn Liverpool was the setting for the activites on the Monday. Situated in the King's Dock adjacent to the Albert Dock and ACC Liverpool the city's £164 million Arena and Convention Centre and just walking distance from Liverpool One the city's brand new shopping centre the students were at the very heart of Liverpool's regeneration projects.

The morning's activites concentrated on how the city's destination marketing had evolved and its tourism structures and infrastructure. It also focused on the contribution that Capital of Culture has made in touristic terms to the city and the region.

The afternoon session was led by Dave Jones, Managing Director of Cavern City Tours who talked about how his company had evolved over 30 years - touching on the Magical Mystery Tour, the Cavern Club, the Cavern Pub, The Beatles International Convention, The Mathew Street Festival and his packaging and ticketing operations.
